How to Easily Achieve Great Search Engine Rankings through a Few Easy Tweaks to your Website PDF Print E-mail

There are many ways to improve search engine rankings by making a few simple changes to your website.  Remember that words are key to your site’s ranking, that is why large sites with many articles relating to the subject area attract a lot of attention from the search engines which sift through the hundreds of related word variations and keyword terms on a site.

One simple method of making your site more attractive to search engine ranking formulas and algorithms is simply to make sure that there is a link at the bottom of each page, preferably one which includes your keywords as anchor or alternative text, which directs your reader back to the home page or central site location.  Make sure that your significant pages are cross-linked to the home page or important related content within your site.  You may want to consider adding additional small pages or websites, again with the links containing keywords directing back to the main site home page.

Don’t forget to develop your links page by approaching attractive trading partners.  Don’t you want to be linked to a site that is #1 in Google and presumably a search engine favorite?  To do so will certainly bolster the attractiveness of your own site in the eyes of the search engines.  Few webmasters will turn down an opportunity for exchange of links with you if they are looking to improve their own popularity.  In time, your site may become one that ranks highly and is envied by your linking partners.  It takes time for website popularity and search engine ranking to develop, so today’s small site may become a traffic-pulling mega-site tomorrow.  For this reason alone, you should not turn down link exchanges with smaller sites, if approached.

Remember to register your website with as many online directories as you can, especially if they are free to submit your link.  There are loads of free ones, though some have a more involved submission procedure than do others.  Evaluate the time needed to submit your link, and make use of the time you have before moving on to the next website directory link opportunity.  There are some directory submission services, too, that might be worth your time, but try to get a referral from someone who has used the service if you can.  If the site requires a fee, evaluate its value to your business carefully, and proceed accordingly.

Don’t forget to use title tags in the appropriate location within your HTML.  After all, the search engine won’t know what your site is all about unless you tell it what it is.  Remember that search engines look for content and in the process often avoid words that are simple pronouns or articles or linking words, such as the, he, she, it, of, and, or but (or “or” for that matter).  Search engines are all about content, not grammar.

Use metatags to and descriptions within your HTML to define for the search engine precisely what your website is all about.  Try to pinpoint the central and unique theme that differentiates your site from others.  Not only will you attract targeted prospects in this manner which can improve overall sales, but you may find that there is less competition for the unique product you are offering.

A site map is definitely helpful when the search engine spiders come to call.  By following the structure of your site map, the search engines will know just what you have and where it is.  Then hopefully, they will send the appropriate search engine traffic to your site.  It you are lucky, the traffic will consist of target visitors. 

Make sure that your title and first few paragraphs are directly related to what your site is all about, and include relevant keywords whenever possible.  Don’t forget to name your pictures, photos and graphics files with keywords relevant to your site.  If you don’t name them, the search engines will not know what they are, since bots are unable to “see”.  Use ALT text here, as well as for your links.

Don’t forget to seek out keyword variations and make use of alternate search terms that are actually being used.  There are a number of free keyword tools, including the popular Google tool, to look for these phrases.  The more unique the keywords, when they are truly relevant to your website, the less competition you may encounter for those keywords.

Don’t try to “fool” the search engines.  There are a lot of search-engine “no-no’s” that could get you banned.  One less obvious one is to be linked to a site that has already been censured, so keep your own act clean and keep an eye on what your link exchange partners are doing, too.  Avoid throwing in irrelevant keywords just to increase traffic, or hiding search terms through their hidden placement on a page or lack of color contrast, etc.  Search engine formulas have been designed to reward well-designed sites that have grown gradually and steadily, using relevant keywords that garner legitimate traffic.  Anything less may not be acceptable for true search engine optimization. 

Make a few tweaks to your website in order to have it appear as attractive as you can to the content-hungry search engines.  You will find that it is worthwhile as you being to attract more relevant traffic to your affiliate opportunity and website.  The end result you are seeking, of course, is increased sales.
